Human definition of a Djinn In the Islamic concept, a Djinn is a supernatural being that is created from smokeless fire, has intelligence and, in addition to humans and angels, populates the world with other Djinn. A Djinn (Arabic جن, DMG ǧinn, Sg. male Djinn جني / ǧinnī, Sg. female djinniya جنية / ǧinnīya) in Islamic belief - is a supernatural being created from smokeless fire; possessed of intellect, it inhabits the world alongside humans, angels, and other Djinn. Djinn become visible to humans only in exceptional circumstances. The concept of Djinn passed from pre-Islamic Arabian beliefs into Islamic theology and is mentioned several times in the Quran. With the spread of Islam, belief in Djinn extended beyond the Arab-Oriental cultural sphere. |
